Linseed cake
Linseed cake is a by-product of hot-pressing seeds to extract oil. It contains both protein (30-34% DM) and crude fibre (10-10.5% DM). The energy content of linseed cake is 14 MJ/kg when fed to cattle and up to 16 MJ/kg when fed to pigs.
Linseed cake contains 8% mucilaginous substance on average, which is why it is widely used as a dietary feed additive for calves, sows, etc.
