Sunflower meal

Sunflower meal is a by-product of hot-pressing sunflower seeds to extract oil, used as high-energy high-protein animal feed. It can be made of hulled, partially dehulled and dehulled seeds. The nutritional value of meal made of hulled seeds is low due to its high content of large hull particles. Meal from dehulled seeds is the most valuable. Meal made of hulled seeds contains 30-40% crude fibre and only 23-26% protein. Meal made of dehulled seeds contains 43-45% protein. Meal made of dehulled or partially dehulled seeds also has a higher energy content than that made of hulled seeds (the energy content of meal made of hulled seeds is 7 MJ/kg DM, the respective figure for meal made of dehulled seeds is 10-12 MJ/kg).
Sunflower meal is nutritious high-protein feed suitable for the feed ration of cattle, pigs and poultry alike.
