Cotton is the most common textile plant. One cotton boll contains three to five seeds that are about the size of vetch seeds, sometimes even peas. A ripe boll opens to expose seeds and cotton fibres. The seeds are rich in fat: hulled seeds contain 17-20% crude fat and 18-20% protein.
